Wilkinson (T.J.): The Escapement and Train of American Watches O/P. 378 pages, 2nd edition, [1928 but see below]. A practical and encyclopedic treatise and text book on the lever escapement and its use in American Watches. A fine copy with fine jacket. (Note: although not stated, this book is a recent reprint). Willard (J.W.): Simon Willard and his Clocks O/P. 134 pages, 38 plates, new edition, 1962. This book by Simon Willard's great grandson was first published in 1911 with the title A History of Simon Willard, Inventor and Clockmaker. The book describes the life and work of the Willard family and their apprentices. A good copy with bruised corners and poor dust jacket - but still a lot nicer than the later paperback reprint. Wood (S.B.C.), Kramer (S.E.): Clockmakers of Lancaster County and their Clocks 1750 - 1850 O/P. 224 pages, illustrated, 1977. A detailed study of the longcase clocks (dials, cases and movements) made in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania together with a directory of their makers. A good book on this early American period. A good copy with good dust jacket (3 small tears). (Ref: K2933 - L3) in stock.
