These Terms and Conditions apply to the online purchasing of books only.

To buy books, search or browse the booklist and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for the details that we need to be able to complete the order.

We accept credit card payment by Visa and Mastercard and all prices on the site are in UK Pounds. If you are shopping from outside the UK, your credit card company will convert the transaction into your own currency. If you prefer, you may send your credit card information via phone or snail mail.

We can also accept payment by bank transfer/wire transfer. If you wish to pay by this method please let us know and we will email you our bank details.

We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. If a book is out of stock, and we can obtain another copy, we will let you know and will not charge your credit card until it is shipped.

We will send you an email to confirm that your order has been received, and in those rare cases where a change of price is necessary, we will always contact you first to ensure that the revised price is acceptable.

We personally pack all our books and take good care to ensure that they are well packed so as to avoid damage in transit. All books are sent insured without extra charge. We do not ship by surface mail as it is far too slow and the risk of damage is far too high.

The checkout has a built in calculator for packing & shipping charges, which are charged at cost. The weight of each book is built into the database so that the website can accurately calculate shipping.

European orders are sent by airmail. For larger orders to most EU countries we use DPD's excellent 'by road' service.

Sending books to Canada is expensive as the Canadian post office has a 2kg limit for items sent by normal mail. Over 2kg we use UPS which is the cheapest option we know of.

For heavy parcels (over about 4 kg) to destinations outside the United Kingdom, cheaper shipping options (eg UPS or DPD) are available to some countries, and we use these services where possible and pass the savings on to the client.

For parcels to South Africa we now only use a courier service. Our experience of sending parcels to South Africa by post was very poor, too many parcels never arrived.

We no longer ship to Russia as customs and delivery problems meant that most parcels were returned.

We endeavour to despatch your books to you within 24 hours of receiving your order, but if the order is received on a Saturday, the order will not be despatched until Monday.

Delivery times for the various shipping options to each destination are displayed in the checkout.

In the United Kingdom books are zero rated for VAT (Value Added Tax / sales tax), thus there are no extra charges to the prices shown other than for shipping.

You can pay for your books with your credit card knowing that the details will be secure. The checkout of this website uses Sellerdeck Payments (powered by Credit Call), a payment service provider who fully comply with all credit card company data security standards. When the order is placed at our website, credit card details are entered and processed on a secure server. We never see your card details.

Jeffrey Formby Antiques do not disclose buyers' information to third parties other than when necessary to process credit card transactions and to despatch the orders received. We do not sell, buy or share mailing lists.

Cookies are used on this site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart. You can turn off cookies within your browser by going to 'Tools | Internet Options | Privacy' and selecting to block cookies. If you turn off cookies, you will be unable to place orders or benefit from the other features that use cookies. Data collected by this site is used to:

c. Only disclose information to third-parties for goods delivery purposes
