The instructions for the use of the microscope and its accessories are very clear, and the survey of microscopes then in production is of great interest historically. A very good copy. Higginbotham (C.): Precision Time Measures their Construction and Repair
O/P. 345 pages, 211 figs., reprinted 1952. A manual on the theory and mechanical laws governing the construction of timekeeping machines and accepted methods of their maintenance and repair. The author was a well respected craftsman; he was master watchmaker with the Hampden Watch Company then superintendent with the Seth Thomas Watch Company, the Illinois Watch Company and the South Bend Watch Company. The first edition was published in 1913. A fine copy. (Ref: K1586 - S1)

The book opens with two historical essays: A Survey of the American Watch Industry and The Development of Watch Manufacturing at the Waltham Watch Company 1849 - 1910. The watches are described in five sections: Pre-Factory production 1771 - 1850; Jeweled Watch Manufacturers; Dollar Watch Manufacturers; Cheap Watch Manufacturers and Experimental and Independent makers 1850 - 1972. A very good copy.

Hoopes (P.R.): Shop Records of Daniel Burnap Clockmaker
O/P. 188 pages, illustrated, number 814 of 1000 copies printed, 1958. Daniel Burnap worked in East Windsor, Connecticut from about 1779 to 1805. Burnap is one of the few clockmakers whose records still exist so this book gives a good insight into the life and times of a successful late 18th century American clockmaker. A good copy with one bruised corner. (Ref: KW1552 - B2)

The book describes the various types of electric clock mechanism starting with Alexander Bain and describing developments up to the time the book was published.
