This is a large and comprehensive work with a wealth of illustrations. Volume 3 also has chapters on clocks from the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Scotland, Ireland, the United States and Canada. An essential book for collectors of French decorative clocks with lots of illustrations. Since the publisher died some years ago this book has become very hard to find and the English language version (as here) even more so. This is a very very good set, see website for further details.

Thomas Foden, Congleton c1765

A good provincial mahogany longcase clock which shows the phases of the moon. It is signed on the silvered chapter ring Foden, Congleton. The mahogany and mahogany veneered case has decorative arcading and dentil moulding at the top of the trunk and above the dial, with 3 brass ball and eagle finials. Height including finials, 7' 5".
