As mentioned last month we now have in stock the new book about the Clockmakers of Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire. The book has lots of information about the Archer family and their clocks, as well as other makers.

We recently purchased a small collection of books on clocks and watches, including a book on Fabergé clocks and two scare items about Rolex. This collection forms the basis of this months newsletter.

Clockmakers & Watchmakers of Stow on the Wold
Barnaby Smith

NEW. A well researched new book, by Barnaby Smith, who has collected information about the Stow (Gloucestershire) clockmakers (especially the Archer family) for well over 30 years. Walter Archer was working in Stow by 1699 and his descendants continued in Stow until 1824. Other Stow makers worked from 1719 up to about 1939, the practitioners from the mid 19th century onwards being retailers/repairers not 'makers'. The book includes an appendix with details of Moreton in Marsh clockmakers from the 1690's to the early 20th century.

184 pages, 95 illustrations, 2024.
